These student coaches helped the form 2 students in writing and planning their lyrics and project using English as their main form of communication. Class contact time consisted of a two-hour coaching/teaching method per week where the students participated in Choral Speaking/Jazz Chant/Spoken Word Poetry.

The project culminated in showcase of students’ project i.e. choral speaking/jazz chant/spoken word poetry which took place on 11 July 2018. The choral speaking winners are 2 Unggul (champion), 2 Harmoni (2nd place) and 2 Murni (3rd place).

Hari Raya Celebration (2018) at SMK Bangsar

Hari Raya Aidilfitri, also known as Hari Raya Puasa, marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of dawn-to-sunset fasting and is considered as one of the two most important celebrations for Muslims, the other being Hari Raya Haji. This special day is celebrated starting on the first day of the Islamic month of Syawal and is regarded as a merry celebration as it marks the triumph and success on discipline and self-resistance. It is also a time to ask for forgiveness, reconcile, renew relationships with others, and express gratitude.

Raya Cake

Hari Raya Aidilfitri fell on the 15th and 16th of June this year. It was recently celebrated with more than usual pomp and splendour at SMK Bangsar on the 29th of June. Many people attended the Hari Raya open house at SMK Bangsar that day. Visitors to the event also enjoyed a spread of local dishes like beehoon sup, laksa, satay, nasi himpit, nasi lemak, lemang, roti John, chicken rendang, cendol, cookies, various kuih muih, and a variety of local fruits. There was plenty of food for everyone and everyone was happy eating, drinking, and rejoicing. Glad to say that on this special day, the PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) of the school also received a donation of RM3000 from SP Setia Bhd. The cheque was presented to our school principal by Mr. Jason Ha (senior manager of SP Setia) on behalf of SP Setia Bhd.

This grand celebration was held at Dataran Ar-Rahman, the place where our assemblies are held. Also present at the open house were YB Fahmi Fadzil, the Member of Parliament for the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency and YDP PIBG, Encik Sharudin bin Ahmad. The series of photos below (which I took on that day) clearly depict this grand celebration in chronological order.
