A Photo Tour of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bangsar (Integ)

SMK Bangsar (integrasi) is a public school in Kuala Lumpur which is located at Lorong Maarof 1, Bangsar, 59000 Kuala Lumpur. With a population of 73 teachers and 650 students, it is presently located in an area surrounded by Bangsar Park, the Sri Pahang low cost flats, Bukit Bandaraya, the KTMB housing area and Bukit Persekutuan. The school was first opened in January 1974 to meet the demands of the increasing population of its surrounding areas. The school started with only five classes in a building in Sekolah Kebangsaan Lick Hung. In 1976, the school was relocated to SRK (P) Methodist and later on to the present building in April 1977. In 1978, the school started separate classrooms to educate hearing impaired students.

Education forms the foundation on which a country is built. Throughout the decades, SMK Bangsar has undergone massive improvements to better cater to the learning needs of its students and build an education environment that best helps to develop the adults of tomorrow. With the goal to provide every child with the opportunity to develop holistically and maximize his or her potential, the school has played an essential role to help its students to reach their full potential, both as productive members of society and as responsible, principled citizens of the country. Needless to say, its emphasis on school quality has ensured a better education for all students. As a school where every student is well cared for, respected and challenged to achieve ambitious goals, SMK Bangsar has truly strengthen its social fabric as well as its students' education.

Surrounded by greenery, the school not only enhances environmental education but also enables the students to cultivate a love of nature. Many studies have indicated that children who are exposed to more greenery showed better attention and superior memory as well as higher cognitive skills. Needless to say, a school that features lots of green spaces and natural scenery will have a myriad of additional benefits for the students.
