Puan Goh Lee Boey's Retirement Ceremony

Puan Goh Lee Boey was born on 16 September 1963 in Sungai Bakap, Seberang Perai Selatan, Pulau Pinang.  She is the youngest in the family and has an elder sister and two elder brothers. Her eldest sister is a happily married housewife. Her second brother is an engineer and was involved with the designing of St. Anne's Church in Bukit Mertajam. He is presently working in San Francisco. Her third brother is an architect in Ampang.

The young Puan Goh received her primary education at SRJK (C) Kg. Valdor, Seberang Perai Selatan and her secondary education (form 1 – form 5) at SM Sungai Bakap, Seberang Perai Selatan. After having passed her SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) with flying colours, she pursued her pre-university studies in Sekolah Tinggi Bukit Mertajam, Seberang Perai Tengah. As an ambitious young lady, she went on to pursue her tertiary education in University Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1985 and graduated in 1988.

Puan Goh is happily married with two daughters and a son. Her husband, Mr. Poh Huck Seng, is a very good cook and owns a restaurant, known as Huck Cafe, in Bangsar. All her three children are doing very well. Her eldest son studied IT at SEGI University and is working in an IT company now whilst her second son has a finance degree from HELP University and is working at Public Bank. Her youngest daughter studied at INTI University and has an accounting & finance degree. She is presently working in an audit firm.

Puan Goh first started teaching on 16th May 1989 in Sekolah Menengah Seri Desa, Tanjung Karang where she taught for six months. On 1st December 1989, she was transferred to SMK La Salle, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur and has remained in that school for almost 27 years. In SMK La Salle, she was initially appointed to be the Head of the Geography Department and later on became the Penolong Kanan Hal Ehwal Murid after which she was promoted to Senior Assistant.  She was transferred to SMK Bangsar on 3rd April 2017 as the Senior Assistant where she retired two years later. As the Penolong Kanan Tadbir Kurikulum (senior assistant), she is very hardworking, responsible, friendly, and kind and is well loved by the staff and students of SMK Bangsar.

Puan Goh's advice to the students of SMK Bangsar is, "Study extra hard as education is the key to a successful life ahead. Be more punctual for school and do not play truant from school. Avoid excessive reliance on teachers and try to be independent learners. Make good use of your money to buy books instead of wasting it on mobile top ups." Thank you for everything, Puan Goh. I am sure the students of SMK Bangsar will listen to your advice.

On 22 Mac 2019, we celebrated the retirement of our Penolong Kanan 1 (Senior Assistant), Puan Goh Lee Boey, with a memorable ceremony at Dataran AR-Rahman, SMK Bangsar. Also known as “Nukilan Kasih Sanjungan Budi'”, this ceremony was attended by all the academic / non academic staff, and students of SMK Bangsar. Also present were our YDP PIBG, Encik Sharudin bin Ahmad, and some of the PIBG members. The ceremony began at around 9.00 a.m. and ended at around 12.00 noon with a farewell lunch followed by a grand send-off for Puan Goh Lee Boey.
