Welcome to the Annual Sports of SMK Bangsar
Athletics is an essential part of school co-curricular activities as it keeps the students active all the time and therefore plays a vital role in making them physically and mentally sound. It teaches the students the value of cooperation and team spirit and helps them to work together for a common interest. Participation in sports also teaches the students to accept victory and defeat gracefully therefore enabling them to face the challenges of life with courage and determination. Since ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ participation in sports provides the students with lots of diversions which could improve their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Being engaged actively in sports would also enable them to be free from all sorts of mischievous tendencies. Upon completion of their studies, their athletics background may have an essential role to play in helping them to secure good jobs.
This year, the annual sports of SMK Bangsar was held
on 27th April 2018. It was a very interesting and spectacular event as there
was keen competition amongst the students from all the four houses namely,
Rajawali, Garuda, Helang, and Jentayu. It was more than an eventful day commencing with the
beautiful dance performances presented by the four houses followed by the
superb sports events and culminated in a tug of war between the teachers and
students. We were all proud to see our students’ performance as they clearly
displayed a spirit of fair sportsmanship and zeal amongst them. Also present at this event was our guest of honour, Dato' Mohamad Zabidi Ahmad and his beautiful wife. The series of
photographs which I took on this special day (below) clearly depict this spectacular event in chronological order.

Tug of war is a sport
that directly puts two teams against each other in a test of strength: teams
pull on opposite ends of a rope, with the goal being to bring the rope a
certain distance in one direction against the force of the opposing team's pull.
